This bold fanfare is centered around the mythological Greek god Triton and the sea shell instrument that he would blow to calm or raise the waves of the sea. The significance of the number 3 (3/4 meter; use of tri-tone intervals) is based off of Triton's name. There is plenty of auxillary percussion and the 3/4 feel and dynamic swells bring to life the image of calm water and cresting waves. A powerful, programmatic option for concert or contest! (1:38)
