You can't argue with the fact that Tchaikovsky was a master of melody and hewed harmony of the highest order. Music from his ballets are the standard to which all others aspire. This transcription of his overture to Romeo and Juliet has kept most of the meat, but has cut the length by about half. Tumbling through several different keys and tempi, it is close to the real deal. Aimed at better high schools and even community orchestras that may not quite be ready for the original, this will put your players through their paces and give your audience (or adjudicators) an exciting earful.
