This setting of a 17th century English poem proclaims the wonder of Christmas and the oneness of all things. While the opening two stanzas feature broad andexpansive phrases over an arpeggiated accompaniment, the work's emotional coreis found in the contrasting section: "Welcome all wonders in one sight/Summer in winter, day in night" before the final recapitulation of the opening strains.
