Commissioned by the National Lutheran Choir, David Cherwien, Artistic Director, in 2013. Premiere performance at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (Mahtomedi, MN) on May 4, 2014 by the National Lutheran Choir (David Cherwien, conductor) and organist Aaron David Miller. Bright fanfares and canons resound in Zachary Wadsworth's celebratory anthem for chorus and organ, "Great or Small." Featuring a joyful text by Christina Rossetti, the anthem expresses themes of hope and praise. After an explosive choral introduction, a soprano soloist sings of future peace, and the work then culminates in a vivid choral climax.
