A totally original piece with pseudo Celtic leanings, this one can be used to reinforce fiddling concepts such as rapid string crossing between fingered notes on the A string and the open D, and Scottish snap rhythms. However, the syncopated melody with offbeat accents in the accompaniment puts it in a class by itself. A lilting middle section provides a nice contrast to the rhythmic outer portions. Eureka! will be a blast to play plus your students will learn from it - reading tricky rhythms and shifting in the first violins, but mostly taking disparate parts and forging them into a cohesive ensemble setting where the whole is bigger than the sum of the parts. Don't miss this quirky original!
