** Stanton’s Staff Selection – 2007 **Keys: Bb, Eb - Meter: cut-timeRhythms: whole, half, and quarter notes (8th notes in snare drum)Teaching Concepts: cut-time, repeats, 1st & 2nd endings, accents, accidentals
James Swearingen's latest march for young band is a perfect vehicle for teaching cut-time. By keeping note values and phrasing consistent and ranges reasonable your students will be able to focus on playing the correct note values and style. The simple, effective melody is enhanced by the counter lines in the tenor sax, trombones, and baritones. Part doubling in the bells and timpani add sonic color, but are not necessary to effectively perform this piece. A great selection for concert or festival use! (2:03)
