Your students will love this exciting piece depicting the emergency response and rescue by the RMS Carpathia upon receiving a distress signal from the ill-fated RMS Titanic. Driving and intense, the captain pushes his vessel to the limit (your students will enjoy creating the rattling of the ship and hissing of the overheated boiler). A contrasting hymn-like section evokes the sadness of the scene upon their arrival. The main theme returns as the RMS Carpathia makes a triumphant (706 people were rescued) yet tragic return to safety. (2:00)
